Corrosion Specialist

Assists the Corrosion Manager in administering the corrosion control program for region. Accountable for related activities including design, installation, operation and maintenance of all corrosion control facilities for maximum efficiency and safety. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures mandated by state and federal pipeline safety regulations.
Position Requirements
Job Responsiblities: Serves as project manager for regional projects necessary to achieve regional goals. This includes development of AFE's, project scoping, permitting, material and services acquisition, cost control, preparation of bid packages, performance of job walks, and routine reporting. Prepares contract drawings, specifications and bid invitations when outside contractors are to be used.Assists in the coordination, training and motivation of corrosion technicians. Will provide vacation coverage as necessary for corrosion technicians. Provides additional technical input for problems encountered by technicians. Orients new employees as to procedures, policies, location and operation of equipment or assigns such orientation and familiarization to the most senior Corrosion Technician. Coordinates annual refresher, safety and emergency response training for corrosion personnel.Assists the Corrosion manager in the Development and administration of capital and maintenance budgets based on staffing and resource requirements, cost estimates, objectives and goals. Monitors, documents and reports expenditures assuring compliance with approved budget and staffing levels.Designs corrosion monitoring and cathodic protection systems including drawings, specifications, and calculations.Consults Corrosion Manager on major projects, budget proposals, and priorities.Coordinates work with departments responsible for contracts, environmental compliance and right-of-way procurement.Establishes and maintains professional relationships with local, regional, and national NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) organizations.Ensures regional compliance with applicable codes, regulations and standards. Primarily DOT requirements and NACE recommendations. Conducts annual Level of Protection surveys as needed..Maintains required records, including assembly, compilation and review of reports. reviews computer data and generates reports. Reviews as-built drawings and annual survey data. Make corrections as needed and forwards modified drawings to drafting department for recording changes. Analyzes field test data from annual and interim surveys and determines best corrective action.Delegates and reviews Company's notifications to various agencies, companies, and committees of corrosion protection systems. Participate in regulatory audits and present regional corrosion program.Investigates corrosion problems in the field through survey work and/or research and may coordinate some activities with other Corrosion Engineers/Technicians and/or vendors when necessary.Resolves cathodic protection and interference problems, as well as any system adjustments. Implements corrective action through corrosion and maintenance personnel or oversees work of outside contractor.Coordinates and directs Corrosion Technicians and contracted services.Provides oversight in all aspects of regional Close Interval Survey projects.Act as the liaison between KMEP and other KMEP departments, all the support contractors, public agencies and foreign pipeline and facility operators that have CP systems affecting KMEP pipelines. Job Requirements: Education:Bachelors degree or higher in Engineering, Science, or related field from an accredited school or relevant work experience that has developed equivalent engineering, project management and/or corrosion skills. Experience, Specific Knowledge, Certification, Licenses:NACE International Level 4 CP Specialist certification or the ability to attain certification within 28 months of acceptance of position.?? Minimum of 5 to 10 year's experience in some combination of engineering, project management, quality control, DOT pipeline safety or risk management?? Understanding of basic statistics and cost/benefit analysis.?? In depth working knowledge of pipeline operations, project management, risk management concepts, engineering principals, and DOT Part 195 regulations?? Design, construction, and troubleshooting of corrosion monitoring and cathodic protection systems.?? Practices, procedures, tools, materials, and equipment used in cathodic protection of refined oil pipelines.?? Corrosion instrumentation.?? Occupational hazards and required safety precaution related assigned duties.?? Pipeline operations and location.?? Utility operations and right-of-way.Protective coating used on petroleum pipelines.A satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company and current, valid State driver's license are requiredCompetencies/Skills:Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.Well-balanced interpersonal skills and demonstrable verbal and written communication skills.Must be accountable and take direction from Managers, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential.Must be a problem solver with the ability to find resolutions.Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.Must be flexible and able to work effectively in a team environment and consistently maintain a professional and respectful demeanor/attitude with co-workers, clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies. Work Conditions:Approximately 30% of the work may be performed in an office environment. The balance of the work may involve negotiating rough terrain, mountainous or desert regions, or heavy urban traffic areas. Work is performed outside in varying and sometimes extreme weather situations.Climatic conditions are determined by location assignment and may include severe seasonal changes including both winter conditions with frequent snow or extreme summer heat and sun, depending upon geographic location.Extended periods of sitting may be required for administrative activities. Outdoor work may involve manual labor and repetitive standing, stooping, bending, squatting, and walking. May lift weights up to 50 pounds unassisted. Field activities may include walking to and amidst work and/or construction sites, climbing in and out of trenches, working around heavy equipment, negotiating rough terrain, areas of loose rock and working in confined spaces.Frequently may walk up to 5 - 10 miles in a day, including through brush and rugged terrain in temperatures that can range from 20 to 120 F.Work may involve the use of weed and brush cutting equipment and other hand tools.Must dig holes in various types of soils, rocks, etc. in order to obtain low contact resistance prior to measuring structure potentials. Survey work frequently involves getting dirty, sweaty, dusty, and hot, especially during summer months.Drives a 4-wheel vehicle up to several hours per day. Must be able to drive pipeline right-of-way without accidents or equipment damage.Employee must be physically capable of completing and satisfying all training requirements as stipulated by local, state or federal agencies and/or Company Policy.Extensive travel may be required including overnight stays for several days.Travel to remote areas within a particular region may involve extended periods of driving, both on and off road and could involve exposure to electrical shock, very difficult terrain, traffic hazards, snakes, spiders and other crawling and flying insects, cuts, bruises, etc.Work in remote areas is often performed alone and without direct supervision; judgment is required when consultation with supervisor is not possible. Must schedule and monitor own work.Position subject to 24-hour call-out, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Supervisory Responsibility:?? None EOE/M/F/D/V

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
