Maintenance Mechanic

POSITION SUMMARY:

Maintains production equipment at maximum functioning level. Repairs production equipment by replacing, repairing or fabricating parts, making adjustments, cleaning machine parts, etc in order to maintain an uninterrupted flow of production throughout assigned departments. May make repairs to the building and perform other related tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess the reason(s) for equipment malfunction or breakdown.
  • Maintains production equipment by making repairs, cleaning and adjusting equipment.
  • Lubricates and performs other general preventive maintenance as needed.
  • Communicates with supervisor on status of repairs and of time required until equipment will be running and returned to production.
  • Records or maintains records on equipment repaired, replacement parts, dates of repairs, etc.
  • May fabricate parts from scratch.
  • Participate in set up reduction efforts and complete change over and/or machine set up as needed.
  • Replaces all safety guards prior to returning the machine to the operator. Cleans up work area before moving on to the next job.
  • May operate a fork lift when needed.
  • Must be skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, machine shop tools and equipment, pallet jacks and other automated equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as equipment manuals, blue prints, schematics, work instructions, etc.
  • Ability to learn and understand machine operations and sequences.
  • Ability to work 12 or more hours.
  • Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures.
  • Ability to speak and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of tools and equipment.
  • Ability to use measuring instruments.

EDUCATION/EXPEREINCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Minimum of three to five years experience in a manufacturing environment.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Industrial electricity courses, welding, PLC, pneumatic or other mechanic courses extremely desirable.
  • Ability to operate fork lift or other powered equipment desirable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to perform duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as hard hat, steel toe shoes, gloves, welding gear.
  • Requires ability to walk, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, bend at waist, and climb ladders or equipment.
  • Maximum unassisted lift ? 75 lbs. Average lift less than 25 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud and requires hearing protection.
  • Safety shoes and eye protection are also required.
  • Temperature environment 0 degrees to 110 degrees.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
